Professional ERAS Headshots in St Petersburg / Clearwater, FL
Medical Residency Application Photo Requirements
Although it may seem like a minor aspect of the process, having a professional photo for your residency application is important in presenting the type of candidate you want to embody. Here you will learn the requirements for submitting your ERAS application as well as the do’s and don’ts.
Medical Residency Photo Tips
Professional Attire
When it comes to the day of your photo, aim to wear professional attire. For women, this can be a skirt or nice paint-suit, and for men, a nice two piece suit and tie. Accessory wise, aim to keep it minimal. This means avoiding oversized earrings and heavy necklaces. For tattoos and piercings, make sure they are concealed. We recommend approaching this as if you are going to an interview.
Colors & Styles
This is the time to dress conservatively. It’s important that you avoid flashy and bright colors. Instead, go for solid dark colors like charcoal black, gray, or navy blue. For dress shirts, stick to light blue, or white. When you decide which shirt you will wear, make sure it compliments your suit jacket. The same rules apply for suit ties, avoid bright colored ties like yellow, orange, red, or pink. It will only set you up for success.
Put Your Best Face On
When it’s time to get behind the camera, keep in mind that you should look confident, approachable, and friendly. The photo needs to visually match as good as you sound in your application.
If you are someone who struggles to smile in photos, try practicing in the mirror leading up to your ERAS photoshoot. If it helps, think of a happy moment that will help bring out your natural smile.
When it comes to hairstyles, avoid edgy haircuts, and men, have a clean shaved face. Having a bad hair day on the day of your headshot is the last thing you want.
