Downtown Tampa Engagement Photography :: Lavinia + Keary

I had such a lovely time photographing Lavinia & Keary for their engagement session at the University of Tampa in downtown Tampa. We started at 7am and the light was just beautiful! They make such a great couple and simply cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this year! Below are a few of my favorite images and a Q&A:

How did the two of you meet?

We met while working for the same company. I kept turning him down so he finally agreed to just be friends and we were for about 3 years until he left the company. He then contacted me about a year later and I finally agreed to go out on a date with him.

How long have you two been together?

We’ve been together now as a couple for about a year and a half.

How did he propose?

The proposal happened 1 month after we started dating. It was low key and on the day before Valentine’s day. He’d cooked my favorite dinner and while we were watching tv, he professed his feelings and popped the question. Turns out,  he’d been carrying the ring around for about a week and was planning an official proposal with my friends and family on Valentine’s day. However, he remembered that I didn’t like when people proposed on holidays or birthdays so he improvised. lol

Describe the wedding day (colors, theme, location, etc)

The wedding ceremony is in the atrium of the InterContinental Hotel. We wanted the look and feel of being outdoors without the uncomfortable elements of heat or bugs. The reception will follow up in the Centre Club overlooking the bay. Our theme is Autumn Romance and we hope to evoke the feeling of a romantic fall sunset using candles, warm fall colors, and lots of flowers.

Any tips that you would give other couples planning their wedding?

My main tip is to have someone who can keep you organized and who can be a second pair of eyes. My sister was that person for me and she helped me stay on track and point out details I might have overlooked.

Why did you choose me  as your wedding photographer?

I choose you because I loved the way looking at your photographs made me feel. I also felt that your style meshed with mine and that I would get good quality pictures. Also, I liked your personality when I met you and the bow ties are adorable….

What was your reaction when you first saw your engagement photos?

We were absolutely blown away!!! I’ve never liked taking pictures so I was a bit anxious but they turned out even better than I could have imagined. Our families love them too and Keary was so proud and excited that he was going around showing anyone who would look.
